However, it warned that “extremists and Iran-aligned groups have shown interest in planning and carrying out attacks in the region.” It also cautioned about the possibility that Iran and allied terrorist militias could target universities in the Middle East.
The embassy confirmed that it remains open and operating normally, noting that the U.S. Department of State’s travel advisory for Egypt remains at Level 2: “Exercise Increased Caution,” while maintaining a “Do Not Travel” warning for North and Central Sinai and certain areas of the Western Desert.
In its security alert, the embassy stated that “security measures are usually present at locations that may be potential targets,” including religious sites (mosques, churches, monasteries, and transportation to them), local government buildings and diplomatic facilities (such as embassies), tourist sites, transportation hubs, shopping centers and restaurants, foreign organizations and U.S.-affiliated entities including educational institutions, road checkpoints, and urban areas in Cairo.
This warning comes amid a sharp military escalation and regional tension between the United States and Iran, involving mutual operations and threats to strike vital infrastructure.
This is not the first such warning. These advisories often include recommendations to avoid large gatherings, follow local media, and prepare for potential disruptions to flights or border crossings.
The warning comes amid broader U.S. concerns about the potential spillover of the conflict through retaliatory attacks using missiles or drones, particularly targeting Western interests or educational institutions in the region.
Source: RT

Middle East News Network: The U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday urged its citizens to exercise extreme caution and closely monitor regional developments amid escalating tensions related to military operations in Iran.
