A Man Shot Dead by the Secret Service While Attempting to Storm Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Compound
Middle East News Network: The U.S. Secret Service announced on Sunday that a man in his twenties was shot and killed after attempting to unlawfully breach the “Mar-a-Lago” compound belonging to President Donald Trump in Florida.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time, when the man was seen at the compound’s north gate carrying what appeared to be a rifle and a can of fuel.
According to a statement from the Secret Service, agents and a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confronted the individual, which led to law enforcement officers opening fire.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has been withheld pending notification of his family.
The statement confirmed that no Secret Service personnel or sheriff’s deputies were injured, and that none of the individuals under Secret Service protection were present at the location at the time of the incident. President Trump was in Washington, not at his Florida residence.
An investigation is underway into the incident, including the individual’s background, actions, possible motives, and the use of force. The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
