The Guardian: Trump’s Decision to Strike Iran Will Depend on Assessments by Witkoff and Kushner
Middle East News Network: U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision regarding potential strikes against Iran will depend on the assessment of his special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner concerning Tehran’s intentions about a nuclear deal.
This was reported by The Guardian, citing sources, which stated: “Donald Trump’s decision to order airstrikes on Iran will depend in part on the evaluation of Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as to whether Tehran is stalling in reaching a deal to relinquish its nuclear capabilities.”
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Witkoff and Kushner are expected to travel to Geneva this week for a new round of negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
Negotiations between Tehran and Washington over the Iranian nuclear file took place on February 17 at the Omani diplomatic mission headquarters in Geneva.
The Iranian delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the U.S. delegation was led by Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Araghchi described the talks as constructive and serious, stating that both sides had established fundamental principles upon which their work within the framework of an agreement would be based.
