Maria Zakharova: Striking Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Is an Indelible Stain on the Reputation of Those Responsible
Middle East News Network: The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that attacks targeting nuclear facilities in Iran constitute an indelible stain on the reputation of those who launch such missile strikes.
Zakharova emphasized that these Iranian nuclear facilities are under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In a statement published on the ministry’s official website following the latest strikes targeting the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, Zakharova said:
“These illegal and reckless actions represent an indelible stain on the international reputation of those who target the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant and other Iranian nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards, and who issue orders to destroy them.”
On Saturday, Iranian authorities reported that the Bushehr nuclear plant had been targeted for the fourth time, resulting in one fatality, material damage, and warnings of a potential regional catastrophe.
Following the attack, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, called for maximum military restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear incident.
Previously, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization reported three incidents involving projectiles falling near the Bushehr nuclear plant on March 17, 24, and 27. Earlier, Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom, stated that the situation around the Bushehr facility continues to deteriorate.
