Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov mocked the marginalization of European representatives, saying that during the negotiations in Geneva, they were left “sitting in the waiting room.”
Middle East News Network: Lavrov stated that representatives of European countries were present in Geneva in a purely personal capacity and were sitting “somewhere in a waiting room” while the trilateral negotiations were taking place.
In an interview with a television news program, and in response to a question about the status of other European representatives in Geneva and what they were doing there, Lavrov added: “They were there in a completely private capacity. They were sitting somewhere in a waiting room, drinking coffee. Perhaps they were chatting among themselves.”
On February 17, reports indicated that representatives from Italy, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom were in Geneva, where the third round of trilateral negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement was being held.
