Eyal Zamir: “We are at the threshold of a strategic crossroads in the joint battle against Iran.”
Middle East News Network: Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated on Tuesday that Israel is at a strategic turning point in the joint confrontation against Iran.
During a situation assessment with the General Staff Forum, Zamir said:
“We will continue to act decisively and deepen our strikes against the Iranian regime, and establish a forward defense zone in Lebanon to prevent direct fire on our towns. We are also continuing operations in Gaza, Syria, and Judea and Samaria.”
He added:
“We are at the threshold of a strategic crossroads in the joint battle against Iran. So far, we have achieved significant accomplishments, even compared to the objectives we set at the beginning of the operation. We will continue to act firmly and intensify strikes against the Iranian regime.”
He continued:
“At this moment, our forces are also operating in Lebanon, which constitutes another central front. Israeli army forces are active there on a large scale and are deepening multi-front strikes against Hezbollah. We continue to establish a forward defense zone to prevent direct fire on our towns, while also working against rocket fire in depth — and in every engagement, our forces outperform Hezbollah. War has difficult costs, and we will continue working to remove threats from our citizens.”
He stressed:
“We are also continuing operations in Gaza, Syria, and Judea and Samaria, and constantly working to eliminate any emerging threats in these arenas.”
Zamir added:
“In recent weeks, I visited Metula, Kiryat Shmona, Shtula, and Nahariya, where I met residents, local emergency teams, and fighters in the area. The residents of the northern region trust our army and express deep appreciation for our activities. The resilience and perseverance of the citizens, alongside the soldiers, form an essential element that enables us to advance in our missions.”
He further explained:
“Earlier this week, during a tour in southern Lebanon, I met reserve fighters from Brigade 226 who once again responded to the call of duty. I also met battalion commanders in the area — Amir, commander of the ‘Yonatan’ Battalion in the Haredi ‘Hashmonaim’ Brigade; Fares, commander of the ‘Heref’ reserve battalion composed of Druze soldiers; and Nimrod, commander of a regional defense battalion made up of local residents. Before me stood the best of Israeli society in all its diversity — an exceptional unity, especially during the days of the Jewish Passover holiday.”
He concluded:
“All of them embody the story of the people of Israel, working together toward one goal: ensuring the security of the state. We will continue to act for our freedom. I wish you a safe holiday.”
