Bahrain: Closure of the Strait of Hormuz Threatens the Lives of Millions
Middle East News Network: Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani stated on Tuesday that closing the Strait of Hormuz threatens the lives of millions of people.
Al Zayani added, during a United Nations Security Council session on the Strait of Hormuz, that massive quantities of oil, gas, medicines, and food supplies pass through the strait.
He noted that any disruption to the flow of goods through the Strait of Hormuz would have negative global consequences.
He stressed that the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz cannot be ignored.
On Tuesday, the United Nations Security Council failed to adopt a draft resolution submitted by Arab countries, including Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Eleven members voted in favor of the draft resolution, while China and Russia opposed it using their veto power, and two members abstained.
