Chilly weather, rainfall expected this weekend — JMD

Whaj 24 – AMMAN — A slight decrease in temperatures with a chance of scattered showers is forecast for Friday, while Saturday is expected to witness a lower temperatures and rainy weather carried by a cold front at noon, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD). 

On Friday, light rain is forecast for the north of the Kingdom, with southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, raising dust in Badia areas, the JMD reported.

Cold and cloudy weather is forecast for Saturday, with rain approaching from northern areas, spreading to central and southern areas of the Kingdom by the evening, with southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, according to the weather department.

The JMD recommends caution on slippery roads during the anticipated rainfall and cold weather. 

The temperatures in Amman on Friday will see a high of 11°C during the day and a low of 5°C at night, while on Saturday temperatures are forecast to range from 10°C and 6°C, according to the JMD. 

On Friday, temperatures in Aqaba will reach a high of 19°C during the day and a low of 9°C at night, while on Saturday they will reach 17°C in the day and 10°C at night. 

The rain brought by the Kingdom’s most recent cold air mass at the end of December, filled the country’s 15 major dams with a third of their total storage capacity of 336.4 million cubic metres (mcm), according to the Water Ministry, which noted that the rainfall dispelled fears of a dry winter.
